Simply Salacious Parties
December is here and wow what a busy month we have - 3 parties, lots of celebrations and we can't wait!

04.12.15 Market House Brixton - Celebrating 3 years at Market House
12.12.15 Our First Boat Party
with Gordon Mac Sy Sez Peter Borg and more
19.12.15 Fu Manchu, Clapham - Our end of year party with Richard Earnshaw

It seems like only yesterday.. When we were first approached with the idea of starting a new monthly residency at Market House, we were not sure if it was something we wanted to do.
We had been in Brixton for 4 years and with Babalou, our home for 3 years, going into receivership and our monthly party at Electric Social becoming a chore as the management team were not the easiest to work with, we were thinking it was time for a rethink and to move to a more central location.
But then we met with the management of Market House and loved their way of thinking and agreed to make it our new monthly home - So on a very cold December night back in 2012 we launched what is now the longest running Friday night house music party in South London!

That night Gordon Mac, Sy Sez and Peter Borg played to a packed room and wow what a vibe it was! Since then, we are truly honoured with the amount of regulars who join us each month and party hard.
We have had some amazing DJ's play for us too including Neil Pierce, Ricky Morrison, Aaron Ross and even the legendary drum and bass DJ Jumpin Jack Frost, has played a very rare house set too!

Fu Manchu - End of year party with Richard Earnshaw (Duffnote Records)

We launched our residency at Fu Manchu back in August and every month we have seen so many regular faces return with friends, making this another fantastic party. The dress code is glamorous and everyone really makes the effort to look just that!
As we close out another amazing year, we are delighted to welcome Duffnote Records founder and one half of Spiritchaser, Richard Earnshaw, to play. A man with hundreds of releases over a huge number of labels and who has produced with practically everyone from Jocelyn Brown to Tony Momrelle - His latest remix of the house classic I get deep from Roland Clark has been in the Top 10 house chart for over 4 weeks and is currently riding high at number 3! Check out his discography here

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our parties this year, from our residencies to our parties at Plan B with Sandy Rivera, Shaun Escoffery, Karizma, Paul Trouble Anderson and many more, to our weekly radio show on Mi-Soul and of course those who joined us in Ibiza too - It has been a fantastic year BUT we have so much more planned for 2016! Simply-Salacious-fu-manchu-clapham
So much has happened in the past month and it is not slowing down for us anytime soon.
We have been busy planning our Winter parties and wow do we have lots to tell you.
After our 11th birthday at Plan B in May and the sad news of the venue closing down, we went on the hunt for a new space, somewhere fresh, big enough to cut shapes, yet small enough to keep its intimate feel.
We are happy to announce we have found the space we were looking for!
Fu Manchu is a brand new 300 capacity space just off of Clapham High Street with a fabulous sound system, super friendly door and bar staff and bloody great cocktails too!
But don't take our word for it, we will be running a soft launch August 22nd and would like to invite you as our guests to test it out for yourselves.
All you have to do is email full names to be added to the limited guestlist.

<![CDATA[11 years of Simply Salacious Parties 2004-2015]]>Thu, 04 Jun 2015 21:52:19 GMThttp://simplysalacious.co.uk/blog/11-years-of-simply-salacious-parties-2004-2015
Picture
We started this thing in 2004 and since then have created some amazing parties, from our 1st birthday at Ministry of Sound to the last ever house music party at Bar Rumba, at one stage we hosted a weekly Thursday party at The Whitehouse, Clapham, a weekly Sunday party at Tongue and Groove and a monthly party at Studio 33 - 9 parties in one month and we did this for a while!
Sadly all three venues are a distant memory.
This is unfortunately the state of London clubland at the moment, finding the right space is never easy, we don't choose a venue because it is available, there are many elements to this decision. Hence it needs to be the right space for what we want to do and the atmosphere we want to create.
Our last party at Plan B 2 weeks ago was to celebrate 11 years of Simply Salacious Parties
It also marked one year of parties at Plan B too as we celebrated our 10th birthday there with Karizma and Atjazz headlining.
So for our 11th birthday we flew in house pioneer Kings Of Tomorrow's Sandy Rivera, who has been responsible for a huge number of house music anthems and Sandy was joined by the beautiful April Morgan who performed a number of their tracks with everyone in the venue singing along.
The Legendary Paul Trouble-Anderson, a man responsible for shaking dancefloors across the globe for nearly 4 decades, took us on a beautiful journey dropping classics mixing with his trademark lyrics over the microphone as well as dancing in the booth like only he can do.
Sy Sez, Jeremy Braithwaite and our very own Peter Borg got everyone dancing early and the vibe was special. If only we could have bottled it. Fortunately the wonderful Kalica filmed the event once again and we can't wait to see what he comes up with. Photo's from the 11th birthday are now uploaded so make sure you tag yourselves and the DJ sets from the evening are being uploaded as this is being written.

Sadly, it seems this was our last party at Plan B as the venue will be closing for a refurb and returning with new owners so we shall see their plans as to their musical direction.
We are extremely grateful to the staff and management of Plan B for all their assistance over the past year and wish them every success in their next chapter.

So what's next?
This Friday and the first Friday of every month we continue our monthly residency at Market House, Brixton and on the 3rd Thursday of the month we can still be found at Mary Janes Bar, Minories and we also will be hosting a pool party in Ibiza in September too in association with Mi-Biza. A week long party brought to you from Mi-Soul.com who incidently have just been granted a DAB licence which means our weekly radio show The Simply Salacious Dance Party will soon have an audience of 11.7 million listeners.
The go-live date is Saturday June 27th so make sure you re-tune your digital radios.

Thank you for your love, support and smiles over the past 11 years, we have lots more things planned so make sure you join the mailing list for updates!

The month of May sees Simply Salacious celebrate our 11th birthday and we also host 3 parties this month too, the first party takes place on the 1st May at our monthly residency at Market House, Brixton.
We are so delighted with this party and the amazing loyal disciples that turn out each month to dance to the Salacious beat on the first Friday of the month. As it's our birthday month, it's only fitting that founder Peter Borg should do what he is most known for - his extended sets, so this Friday sees him play all night long.

Join Peter Borg this Friday at Market House, Brixton, don't forget to bring your dancing shoes
Those of you who have listened to Peter play an extended set, know just how his musical selection will take you on a journey. Always one to take a risk and play something different manipulating a track using loops and accapellas, the smiles on the dancefloor are confirmation of his ability.
Peter began his musical journey very early on, listening to Motown and disco that his mother was always blasting out at home, this shaped his taste in soul infused music with lots of uplifting vocals. He began searching and buying records before he was 10 years old an amassing a collection big enough to land him a weekly residency at 18 years old, playing all night long. It was this education that honed his skills and his love of telling a story through the music.

<![CDATA[Simply Salacious 11th birthday anniversary]]>Fri, 24 Apr 2015 10:59:52 GMThttp://simplysalacious.co.uk/blog/simply-salacious-11th-birthday-anniversary
As we enter into the month of May and our 11th year birthday, 2015 has been a busy year for us at Simply Salacious so far, 4 packed out parties at Market House, the launch of a new party in the City of London and not forgetting our first visit of 2015 to Plan B which saw us hit capacity at 1am and it does not look like it is slowing down anytime soon as we prepare for what is looking like another stonker of a party at Plan B where we celebrate our 11th birthday with house music royalty, Sandy Rivera and Paul Trouble Anderson.
For now let us focus on who Sandy Rivera is and what you can expect from our 11th birthday party on Saturday May 23rd 2015 -Tickets on Resident Advisor

Sandy Rivera plays Simply Salacious May 23 2015 - Plan B Brixton

Simply-Salacious-Sandy-Rivera-Defected-Records-house-musicEarlybirds are now sold out - Do not miss this party
Hailing from the music-fuelled streets of Brooklyn in earlier years, Sandy’s formative beginnings were consumed with a passion for the sounds assaulting his ears on a daily basis. Spanish funk, hip-hop beats, early electro and the burgeoning explosion of house captivated his attention and led him away from the sidewalk towards the dark and smoky halls of some of the world’s greatest clubs.
For most, it was Sandy’s modern day 2000 classic Finally as one half of Kings of Tomorrow that bought him to their attention.
Featuring the vocals of Julie McKnight, the dialogue between a dead woman and God transformed through Sandy’s production into one of the most revered house tracks of all time.
It was seven years prior to Finally that a chance meeting with the legendary Burt Bacharrach led to Sandy’s foray into full time production. With funding from the man behind countless hit records of his own and an obvious eye for talent, Sandy set up Blackwiz Records and released tracks such as D’Menace, Fade II Black, Open Your Mind, My Love Is Real, Young Hearts and countless others in a prolific spurt of creativity. Come Into My Room, released on Sandy’s other imprint DEEPVISION spawned a new strand of electro disco-house sound, soon found to be infiltrating the works of everyone from EBTG (Tracey In My Room) to commercial big-hitters like Kylie Minogue.

Simply-Salacious-Sandy-Rivera
Sandy’s solo work is equally as ferocious. Expansions, Class Is In Session, Changes, I Can’t Stop, Just Won’t Do, Lollipop, Freak, Deeper and more recently Persuasion, Escape and Dirty Sax have lit up airwaves and dance floors the world over. With three long-players under his belt – The Calling (1997), It’s In The Lifestyle (2000) and Trouble (2005) – his body of work shows the depth and scope of his ability to work across numerous genres, pulling in house, soul, R&B and chill-out.

Since the release of Trouble, Sandy has turned his hand to various compilations – including Ministry of Sound Sessions and Kings Of Tomorrow Defected ITH – and has a magnitude of production credits on tracks and mixes for the likes of Craig David, Moby, Fedde le Grand and Everything But The Girl.

Away from the plug-ins, knobs and other countless buttons that proliferate his mixing desk, it’s on the dance floor where Sandy reigns supreme. Playing to both the underground and the overground, demand for his timeless abilities has never been higher. His blend of uplifting house, chilled tech-beats, funked-up rhythms and the ability to drop down into the depths of grinding progressive house make him one of the most versatile and natural artists in the world.

The name Sandy Rivera means more than just a collection of records – more than just ‘house’. It means a legendary sound split across different genres, breaking boundaries and making people listen. It’s the anticipation for what’s next, the wait for whatever tracks are just around the corner. He is without doubt the King of Tomorrow and the master of yesterday – he is Sandy Rivera.

The date : May 23rd 2015

<![CDATA[Wow what a party!]]>Wed, 01 Apr 2015 18:59:14 GMThttp://simplysalacious.co.uk/blog/what-a-party
Simply Salacious Parties - Plan B - Karizma-Souldynamic-Nei-Pierce-Peter-Borg-shaun-escofferyOur first party of 2015 at Plan B Brixton
When we saw the amount of love our first party of 2015 at Plan B was getting we decided to add Shaun Escoffery to the line up to say thank you for all of your support and we begin to think to ourselves, could this party top the vibe and atmosphere of our amazing party in November when Tony Humphries played?
That was some party and to be honest if we got it on par with that party, we would have been chuffed. This is what happened; the doors opened at 10pm with Peter Borg warming up proceedings, nice and gently and by midnight, just as Neil Pierce took to the decks, the vibe was already electric and the venue was filling up quickly.
A long queue was forming outside and we worked hard to make sure it moved quickly and it did. Thank you for your patience.

The beautiful HanLei took to the stage and sang the worldwide exclusive of Diamonds and what a performance! Not long after, Shaun Escoffery performed "People" and the whole club went crazy.
Well, we thought it went crazy, until he sang "Days like this" Then the place errupted! 500 of you sang along, cameras flashed, people screamed and Shauns words were "Its going off" What a performance!

Souldynamic took to the decks and showed you just how amazing this duo are when they play.
So many of you have witnessed their magic at Southport and Suncebeat but they raised the bar and excelled themselves, making sure you were all ready for when Baltimorean Karizma took to the decks at 4am. As the clocks went forward, we wanted to assure you that we were not going to lose an hour of clubbing, no way!
At 7am when the lights came on, the venue was still filled with gorgeous smiling happy faces.
It seems we did top the atmosphere from our November party.
It seems you guys created something special on Saturday in Brixton.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it another special night. Photos are now live and soon so will the DJ sets be too.

We return to Plan B in May to celebrate 11 years of Simply Salacious Parties with house music royalty - Sandy Rivera and Paul Trouble Anderson. We recommend you buy a ticket as we expect this to sell out.

<![CDATA[We speak to UK House Hero Neil Pierce]]>Sat, 14 Mar 2015 13:37:10 GMThttp://simplysalacious.co.uk/blog/neil-pierce-interview
Ahead of his gig for Simply Salacious on March 28th, we caught up with Neil Pierce for a brief insight into his early days on the house music scene, his love for reggae music and his views on the future of the scene.

You have been on the house music scene for some time, when and how did you get into it?
I got into house music around about 1990, my elder brother Scott was really into it and convinced me to come along to a rave with him. I thought i'd hate it, but it blew me away. If my memory serves me correctly it was a party held at Bagleys, Kings Cross. I tried to break through for many years without any success, but in 1999 I started working at Release the Groove, Soho, which led me to getting to know most of the key industry figures and my career started to take off from there. Paul Trouble Anderson made me resident his infamous Loft in Camden and not long after that Bobby and Steve started booking me at Garage City and then eventually made me a resident at Soul Heaven which was huge for me.

Was house music your first love?
Actually no, reggae and rare groove were and I still love those styles of music today.

Being a DJ for many years, how has your style changed?
I don't really think it has to be honest, i've always played music that resonates with me and that I think will translate well to the dancefloor.

How would you describe your style today?
Good quality music that has soul and a good groove.

With the new technologies in DJ equipment, what equipment do you use to play and why do you choose this type of equipment?
I'm not really a DJ that is heavily into tricks, I prefer to let the music do the talking.
I do love the new looping facilities on the CDJ 2000 Nexus as it makes it much easier to do long blends which is something i've always been well known for. I hear many DJ's moaning that technology is making it easier but I embrace it, especially if it means you can be more creative with your art-form.

As well as being a DJ, you have had many fantastic releases as a producer too.
Which do you prefer - Being a DJ or being a producer and why?
If I had to choose it would be DJ'ing as I love that connection and the instant response you get from your audience. I still get massive buzz when i've played a good gig and nothing really beats that.
Saying that though, producing is very rewarding, especially when a track turns out the way you envisioned it and it really works on a dancefloor and all your peers are playing it.
Rhemi-music-neil-pierce-ziggy-funk
You are achieving amazing success with your new collaboration with Ziggy Funk under the moniker of Rhemi Music - How did the collaboration come about and how would you describe the Rhemi Music sound?
We met through a mutual friend Sy Sez, Ziggy would come to the studio and hang out. He started helping me with song writing and some production ideas and then it kind of grew organically from there. We officially formed Rhemi Music at the end of 2012 and it's just grown from there.
As far as describing our sound i'd say we just make what feels right to us.
We never release a record unless we would buy it ourselves, dance to it (although you don't see me doing much of that nowadays lol) or play it in our own sets.
Rhemi Music on Traxsource

The house scene is forever changing - How do you see the house music scene today and what do you predict for the scene in the future?
I predict that songs will become popular again and that soulful music will make a comeback but not in the traditional way. There's a whole new generation of kids getting into house and over the next few years I think their taste will mature too, so they will be looking for house music with more substance.

You have played for Simply Salacious Parties for a number of years, what do you enjoy about playing for us and what can we expect from your set at the next party?
There's always a great crowd of music lovers at Simply Salacious, so it's always a pleasure to play for you guys. I don't have to over think the party as I know what I gotta do and that's play from my heart.

What do we have to look forward to for the rest of the year from Neil Pierce?
We have loads of new music dropping on Rhemi Music this year which i'm really excited about, especially the tracks produced with 2 young ladies by the name of Hanlei. These girls are amazing so I can't wait for you guys to hear them. On the DJ front, my diary is already filling up really nicely, and i'm really looking forward to playing at the Southport Weekender with Ziggy, going back to Ibiza this year, doing a tour of Asia and also our own Deep into Soul parties which are always killer gigs.
